The Bean Inn was born in 2003 and its reputation has grown steadily throughout the years.

Based on the ground floor of our sister business, Coast B&B, The Bean Inn is also open to non-residents.

All of our dishes are approved by the Vegetarian Society and we are delighted to be part of their Food & Drink Guild. All of our dishes are vegan or can be adapted.

The ultimate way to experience our food and soak up ‘The Bean Inn vibe’ is to eat in our intimate, candlelit restaurant. St Ives is a haven for artists and so, eating in our restaurant gallery is an apt way to relax, unwind and enjoy your meal. Our aim in the restaurant is to offer you some of the tastiest vegetarian and vegan dishes from around the world. Bringing you the best flavours means using the best quality ingredients. We therefore use local, organic and seasonal produce whenever possible.

Our cleaning and laundry products & soaps are environmentally friendly and free from animal ingredients. None of the products are tested on animals.

The Bean Inn is also licensed and all our drinks are vegan friendly. Our carefully selected drinks list includes organic options and award winning locally made wines and beers. We also enjoy providing outside catering when possible. Please call for more information.

This crisp tart is packed with forest mushrooms & roasted butternut squash
Served with seasonal leaves and pickled mushrooms. £6.50

Blue, Beet, Walnut & Lentil Salad
Award winning Cornish Blue cheese, puy lentils, salted candied walnuts & roasted beetroot, served with seasonal leaves & a balsamic roasted beetroot dressing.

Sweetcorn & Mixed Vegetable Chowder
This thick hearty autumnal soup is served with a selection of homemade bread


Griddled Halloumi with Sweet Potato Wedges
Served with a rocket & sunflower seed salad and a fiery harissa sauce.

Stuffed Potato Cakes with Pea Curry & Spicy Tarka Dahl
Served with homemade chilli & coriander flatbread, fresh mango sauce & homemade lime pickle.

Spaghetti with Spinach, Pea & Basil Pesto & Green Veg

Bringing you the fresh flavours of late summer, tossed with fresh green vegetables and topped with gremolata, toasted pine nuts & organic or vegan cheese


Middle Eastern Mezze Board
Lightly spiced chickpea & vegetable stew, lemony courgette, tomato & herb quinoa salad, Turkish bread & hummus duo served with dukkah, pickled hot peppers, pomegranate seeds, & olives


Vegetable Bourguignon with Herb Dumplings
Vegetables & mushrooms braised in a rich red wine gravy & served with fresh herb dumplings, fondant potato & local spring greens.


All desserts are homemade and are suitable for a vegan diet, or can be adapted. Gluten free options of some desserts are also available.

Dark Chocolate & Raspberry Mud Pie
With ice cream or clotted cream & fresh raspberry sauce.

A citrus blend of oranges & lemons with star anise.

Yarg (Semi-hard, young, fresh & slightly tangy, wrapped in edible wild garlic leaves),
Davidstow Crackler Extra Mature Cheddar (Complex & full flavoured with a crunchy texture).

Breakfast is available daily to Coast B&B guests but your table does need to be booked in advance. We will be opening for breakfast to non residents in 2019 and will announce dates shortly.

Fresh Fruit Portion £3.50 A selection of berries, grapes and other fruits.

Homemade Porridge or Granola £4 Made with your choice of dairy milk or a range of plant based milks. (Add fruit compot, nuts or seeds for £1).

Toast & Preserves £2.50 Homemade wholemeal or white toast with butter or dairy free spread and a choice of the following preserves: strawberry jam, orange marmalade, cashew nut butter, Marmite or Nutella.

Morningbockerglory £6 Layers of fresh fruit, Greek or soya yoghurt and homemade granola.

Blueberry pancakes £6 Served with maple syrup.

Something Breakfasty on Toast £4 (1 item) / £5 (2 items) / £6 (3 items) Homemade brown or white toast topped with: sauteed fresh mushrooms, oven roasted tomatoes, Bean Inn baked beans or Heinz baked beans.

Hearty Cooked Breakfast £8 All the individual elements of this breakfast are homemade: Potato croquette, sausage & bacon patty, baked beans (homemade or Heinz), oven roasted Portobello mushroom & cherry tomatoes & a side of fresh toast.

Continental Cheese & Bread Platter £8 Local Cornish cheeses or vegan cheeses, homemade breads or toast, vegetable crudités, date & apple chutney & fresh fruit.

Smashed Avocado & Tomatoes on Toast £6

Breakfast Sandwich £4.50 Made with homemade white or brown bread or toast and filled with one of the following options:
